Rainscreen cladding protects a building from moisture damage while delivering architectural expression.
Unlike traditional wall cladding — where the layered build-up contributes both thermal performance and weather protection — rainscreen systems operate differently. The primary weather barrier is typically a sheathing board fixed to the structural frame, with joints sealed using EPDM. The support carrier system anchors through the sheathing into the frame. Insulation and cavity barriers follow, then the selected rainscreen material.
